Nancy Pelosi just released a letter to her caucus that a vote will take place later this week, which will be the "first formal vote on the new impeachment process by the House" since Pelosi first supported the impeachment probe.

Since the beginning of the probe, the Trump administration has maintained it would not comply with the impeachment inquiry, in part because the House had not "taken a formal vote to establish it" reports The Hill. Democrats have yet to take a vote and insisted one was not necessary to launch the investigation.

Pelosi's letter stated "We are taking this step to eliminate any doubt as to whether the Trump Administration may withhold documents, prevent witness testimony, disregard duly authorized subpoenas, or continue obstructing the House of Representatives."

Representative Jim McGovern (D-MA), also the chairman of the House Rules Committee, said today he will introduce a resolution this week to "provide a clear path forward" for the inquiry. Pelosi said the resolution, which has yet to be released, "sets forth due process rights for the president and his counsel."
