Musk filed a motion to fight diver Vernon Unsworth's defamation lawsuit on Monday 

It reveals he hired a private investigator James Howard to look into Vernon Unsworth in August 2018 

He had already called Unsworth a 'pedo guy' in retaliation when Unsworth said his plan to rescue the boys from a cave in Thailand would fail 

Musk had offered Tesla technology and engineers to help the boys in June 2018

In the end he was not needed and they were brought to safety by divers 

Musk tweeted then apologized to Unsworth at the request of a Tesla board

He then hired a PI to look into the British man and said he was told he associated with 'nefarious sexual proclivities' 

Despite the fact the PI had 'no solid evidence', Musk told BuzzFeed what he had told him 

BuzzFeed published his comments last year but Musk says he told them not to 

He also says in South Africa, where he is from, calling someone a 'pedo' means nothing more than likening them to a 'creepy old man'
