Former Vice President Joe Biden confused common firearm terms during a Democratic fundraiser.

Biden told the 250 attendees at the Saturday night event at the Water Mill home of artist Bonnie Lautenberg, widow of Sen. Frank Lautenberg of New Jersey, about his desire to bring back the Clinton-era "assault weapons" ban, according to the pool report.

Referring to the nation's "irrational gun policy," Biden said, "I'm the only one in the United States that has ever, in fact, beat the NRA flat out, eliminating assault rifles." The crowd applauded and Biden continued, "There is no rationale for us to have these assault weapons. Who needs a clip that can hold 100 rounds?"
