This is the astonishing moment spiders appear to fall from the sky as they sit in a near-invisible web they have spun to catch prey.

The clip, recorded in Minas Gerais, southern Brazil, captures hundreds of tiny black spiders as they 'fall' from the grey clouds.

But rather than be dropping from the sky as it may seem, the parawixia bistriata spiders are actually settled in a huge web they have spun to hunt prey.

The weaving spiders then scuttle along the near-invisible web as the video comes to an end.

The incredible phenomenon is fairly typical in rural southern Brazil during hot and humid weather, experts say.
