3D-printed gun designer Cody Wilson arrested in Taiwan, Taiwanese media reporting

• Statesman.Com

Cody Wilson, the Austin man behind 3D-printed guns who has been accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, has been arrested in Taiwan, according to media outlet Taiwan News.

The publication reported that a real estate agent alerted police in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei that Wilson had signed a six-month lease for a studio after seeing news reports that the 30-year-old was wanted for sexual assault in Texas.

Wilson has been charged with sexual assault after he was accused of paying a 16-year-old girl for sex in August after meeting her on SugarDaddyMeet.com, according to court documents filed in Travis County on Wednesday.

An international search for Wilson began Wednesday after police found he missed a scheduled flight back to the United States from Taipei.

Austin police have said it is unclear why Wilson was in Taiwan.

Federal and local officials in Austin said they could not immediately confirm the arrest but are working to gain more information.
