Even the mainstream media is being forced to praise President Trump over his success in bringing North Korea to the table, with CNN's Erin Burnett acknowledging that Trump will go down as a "great president" if he fixes the problem.

Trump is set to meet with Kim Jong-un before May, with North Korea agreeing to suspend missile tests and eventually work towards "permanent denuclearisation".

South Korean National Security Adviser Chung Eui-yong directly credited Trump for the development, explaining that, "his leadership and his maximum-pressure policy, together with international solidarity, brought us to this juncture."

The news was so remarkable that even the normally ardently anti-Trump mainstream media had to praise the president.

"That is an incredible thing and I don't think there's anybody watching this or any expert on Korea who expected that response at this time, pretty stunning," said CNN's Erin Burnett.
