In late June, those countries were elected in the General Assembly to join the authority, composed of 15 States, 10 of which have temporary seats and five have permanent seats and the right to the controversial veto (the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom).

The term of the non-permanent members is two years, but in the case of Italy, it will only exert it in 2017, starting from an agreement with Holland, which will occupy the seat in 2018, after several rounds tied in the elections in the General Assembly in June.

Bolivia was a member of the Security Council before, in the periods 1964-1965 and 1978-1979; Ethiopia in 1967-1968 and 1989-1990, Italy in 1959-1960, 1971-1972, 1975-1976, 1987-1988, 1995-1996 and 2007-2008; Kazakhstan becomes a member for the first time and Sweden in 1957-1958, 1975-1976 and 1997-1998.
