Have you heard? Apple's new $5 billion solar-powered "spaceship" will soon be completed. And, according to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the much-anticipated building will be the "greenest building on the planet".

ArchDaily relays that Campus 2 will be four-stories tall and will house 13,000 employees. Perhaps one of the neatest features is that the structure will run entirely on renewable energy sources in order to meet the company's net-zero energy standards. 700,000 square feet of rooftop solar panels will help Apple meet its goal. Space on the rooftop is also being prepared to cultivate oxygen-producing vegetation.

The drone video, taken by aerial videographer Matthew Roberts earlier this month, shows the progress of the 2.8-million-square foot development. Reportedly, the Apple circular building and Research and Development apparatus are expected to be move-in ready by early 2017.

A number of photographs shared by French blog MacGeneration show the construction process of the "spaceship" in closer detail. Some components, such as the security kiosk roof, are fabricated using carbon fiber composite. Marble, stainless steel, and large glazing panels are also utilized in Campus 2's construction.
