Jon Stewart Slams Liberal 'Hypocrisy' Of Labeling All Trump Supporters As 'Racist'

Recently, comedian and animal rights activist Jon Stewart sat down with Charlie Rose of CBS News in an interview to discuss his new book, "An Oral History". Of course, he also shared his thoughts on the turnout of the 2016 U.S. Presidential election.

Rather than diss Donald Trump (as he's done so many times in the past), Stewart spoke out against the name-calling which seems to have increased since the business tycoon won more electoral votes than Hillary Clinton. The former host of The Daily Show slammed the "hypocrisy" of the left, liberal-minded thinkers for supposedly rejecting stereotypes while being quick to label Trump supporters as racist. Said Mr. Stewart:

"I thought Donald Trump disqualified himself at numerous points. But there is now this idea that anyone who voted for him has to be defined by the worst of his rhetoric."

"Like, there are guys in my neighborhood that I love, that I respect, that I think have incredible qualities who are not afraid of Mexicans, and not afraid of Muslims, and not afraid of blacks. They're afraid of their insurance premiums," he continued. "In the liberal community, you hate this idea of creating people as a monolith. Don't look as Muslims as a monolith. They are the individuals and it would be ignorance. But everybody who voted for Trump is a monolith, is a racist. That hypocrisy is also real in our country."

The thoughtful comedian then went on to explain that Trump's win wasn't a reaction to Democratic leadership, but to the republic establishment:

"He's not a Republican, he is a repudiation of Republicans," he said. "But they will reap the benefit of his victory, in all of their cynicism and all of their — I will guarantee you Republicans are going to come to Jesus now about the power of government."

Stewart also made it clear that he's optimistic about the future of the country.
