GOP is now the party of Trump

The Republican National Convention is beginning in Cleveland on Monday, but the excitement is already well under way.

Party delegates approved a new party platform on Tuesday night, and a partial list of speakers was released Thursday morning.

This week has made one thing is clear: This is not the traditional GOP establishment that we are used to.

It's the newer, tougher, America-first, Trump Republican Party.

RNC speakers — "Who's who of the new GOP"

The RNC speaker list is full of Trump political supporters, relatives, and celebrity endorsers. All four of his adult children and his wife Melania are also scheduled to speak.

Politicians set to appear include former New York Mayor and Trump friend Rudolph Giuliani, Governor Mike Huckabee, Senator Jeff Sessions, Governor Scott Walker and others.

Many prominent female figures are scheduled to speak: Florida attorney general Pam Bondi, the first woman to command a space shuttle mission Eileen Collins, Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin and Iowa Senator Joni Ernst.

Notable names in the sports world include former quarterback Tim Tebow, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship Dana White, and professional golfer Natalie Gulbis.

The New York Times recognizes notable absences from this list — and many old establishment politicians are on the outside looking in, a clear indication that a Trump presidency will remake the political elite in Washington, D.C.

Trump-inspired changes aren't limited to just the RNC, either.

For two days this week Republican Party leaders, delegates, and donors gathered in Cleveland, debating the different issues they wanted to be included in the official party platform.

Once finalized Tuesday, the new GOP official political outlook clearly was put together with Trump — and his supporters — as the inspiration.

Compared with the Romney-influenced 2012 platform, the 2016 draft shows some huge changes influenced by Trump's principles, and even some of his specific rhetoric.

In April, Trump said, "We will spend what we need to rebuild our military. Our military dominance must be unquestioned. We are also going to have to change our trade, immigration and economic policies to make our economy strong again – and put Americans first again."
