Raspberry Pi 3 is imminent -- and the new RPI will include built-in Wi-Fi. A mini computer that has won fans among hardcore techies, avid hobbyists and everyday users, the Raspberry Pi will now make a real push toward widespread adoption as it includes both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wiring, according to FCC docs published February 26. The site I Programmer says the upgrade adds just $2 to its manufacturing cost. The connectivity is a natural evolution for Raspberry Pi, which is expected to be challenged by C.H.I.P. computers -- currently marketing itself as the "world's first $9 computer." Commenting on the Raspberry Pi 3 Wi-Fi/Bluetooth upgrade, Eli N. G. Ross -- an RPI user -- wrote: "i'd have been far more shocked if it didn't. wifi is so cheap and so common the rpi would just lose all its users to chip. i enjoy my RPis, but once the chip turns up with its speed and on-board wifi, the pis are gonna need an upgrade." If the C.H.I.P. does as promised, that is. C.H.I.P. plans to ship June 2016.
