Need your help...Tonopah Rob

• Tonopah Rob

Summer is nearly over and now is the time for the farm to be cleaned up and planted for the November grand opening.  Due to the heat, planting has somewhat been delayed.  Last weekend some plots were planted with fall summer squash, cucumbers and green beans.  Root crops and Brassicas will be planted within the next two weeks.  The problem is, Rob needs financial and volunteer help.  The lack of both will determine how fast the farm will be planted.

Financially, the farm is struggling this year.  In order for the farm to continue, Tonopah Rob needs at least 50 new CSA memberships.  The only share size available are the half shares.  If all current CSA members can recruit at least one new CSA member this month, the farm will have greater chances to survive this upcoming season.  Tonopah Rob has dedicated 20 years growing all naturally in the desert and this is by far the hardest method of farming here in Arizona. The sacrifices Rob has made to farm pure food has been extremely costly.  Now, Rob's farm needs people to make their own sacrifice and support the efforts of the farm.

Rob's CSA program is the best in the state.  He has graciously given all CSA members a great deal on their membership.  The quality of the food is superb, the flavors are incredible and the vitamin content is among the highest one can consume.

It is tiresome preaching from a soap box, many of the messages have fallen upon deaf ears and now the push has come to a shove.  It's amazing how people say they can't afford better food, yet, they have cell phones, cigarettes, beer and cable television and many other luxuries and cannot support the farm.  I don't get it.  It's time for people to wake up and fully understand why it is so important to support small farmers which includes Tonopah Rob.  So, for the last time, Rob is reaching out to past CSA members and new customers to support the farm.  If the support does not come through, this will be the last season and the farm will then close for good.  If you give a hoot then do something about it. Tonopah Rob needs financial help, volunteers to help get the farm ready for planting and more financial help.  Now is the time for you to step up and be the best supporter you can be for the farm.

Rob does not want to show signs of weakness by begging for support, but if the help does not get here soon……….the future of the farm will come to a halt.  So, hopefully all who reads this will in some way get inspired to save the bees, turkeys, chickens and all of its wildlife by coming to the aid of the farm.

Don't forget,  Tonopah Rob has a lot of eggs for sale.  Call, email or come by in the morning and honk your horn at the front gate.  Thank you to those of you whom have been so gracious, volunteering your time and spending your dollars at the farm, your business has been enormously appreciated.
