Unofficial Summer Sale; crop failure August 29, 2015 (Tonopah Rob's)

• Tonopah Rob

The summer sale has been down sized this month.  After several inspections of the peppers, melons, okra and tomatoes, many of the crops have been ruined, high temperatures and animals are to blame.  Animals such as quail, turkeys, and mice have eaten hundreds of pounds of peppers, melons and eggplant.  I think this has been the driest summer season and more animals than ever have come to the farm.

The loss is big to the farm.  The farm stand will have smaller amounts, the produce will be good but in small amounts.  Rob is going to set up the stand and sell but the times have changed from 7 to 9 a.m. and not 7 to 10 a.m. It will truly be a   first come basis only for veggies and eggs.  The gate will open at 7 a.m.  So, the plan is to set up a smaller stand and have an unofficial summer sale.   It's the $1.00 per pound sale.  That's right, from bell peppers to melons and more, the will cost is one dollar per pound.

Also, on sale are Tonopah Rob's eggs.  The price begins at $4.00/ per regular dozen and gets better.  You can get 3 dozen/$10.00 or 8 dozen/$20.00, nine or more the cost is $2.25/ dozen. Come early if you want a large amount of eggs, it will better your chances of purchasing the amount you want.

If you are planning to renew or join the CSA program this weekend, come on over.  Remember August 31, 2015 is the last big bonus bucks day to renew your share and receive a 150.00 dollar bonus into your new CSA account which begins the first week of November 2015.
