"What we now see is a different and very dangerous situation," she told reporters on Tuesday.

The Democratic presidential candidate made the comments when asked if the world is better off without former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein in power.

"I've made it very clear that I made a mistake, plain and simple, and I have written about it in my book. I've talked about it in the past," she said.

However, the ex-first lady explained that her country would support the Iraqi government to fight the ISIL terrorist group.

"The United States is doing what it can, but ultimately this has to be a struggle that the Iraqi government and the Iraqi people are determined to win for themselves and we can provide support, but they're going to have to do it," she said.

The Iraq war is highlighted after Republican presidential hopeful Jeb Bush said that he would have invaded the country in 2003 if he was the president of the United States.
