To me, its peaceful,relaxing, almost "zen" like. The OCD part comes into play with my need to get a knife as sharp as I possibly can,sometimes spending a few hours on one blade. Its a lot of work rubbing and honing and turning the blade around and rubbing and honing some more. Over and over and over.

Since I am a creature of habit and I am also loathe to change, I have avoided the newer sharpening systems simply because I didn't believe anything could work as good as the "old ways". Well… I was wrong. I decided that since I'm endeavoring to become a blade smith, I have to find out what the other blade smiths use to get their pieces sharp. They all use some form of the system I will review in this article. That is the "Lansky delux esharpening system".
