This Year's Detroit Auto Show Is Embezzled By Supercars

Both cars — the Acura NSX and Ford GT — are being made in the United States, which is rare for this strata of high-performance vehicles.

Karl Brauer, a senior editor for Kelley Blue Book said, "This year, I feel like, there's no denying that cheerful days are here once again. We're seeing a truly idealistic auto industry, and its showing in powerful cars, fascinating cars, fun cars, niche cars, convertibles."

He made those remarks on the floor of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, a yearly showcase of future models and concept cars. The show is open to public through next Sunday.

US car sales have climbed for 5-years in row emerging out of the downturn, with 16.4 million units sold in 2014, as per Ward's Auto. Estimates demonstrate that sales will keep on rising this year, despite the fact that the growth rate has started to slow.

On Monday, Ford shocked the auto media when it launched a preliminary edition of the GT at a morning presentation. The blue sports car drove onto the floor at Joe Louis Arena.

Mark Fields, Ford's president and CEO said, "We are enthusiastic about advancement through execution and making vehicles that make people's hearts pound."

The GT, which Ford said it will start to assemble next year, is an heir to a model sold in 2005 and 2006 with a sticker price that began at about $140,000. The latest edition, with no price yet revealed, will have a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that can deliver more than 600 horsepower.
