Quarantines / Voluntary Isolation / Civil Rights

It finally hit me that we are using the word "quarantine" all the time, when the first level of quarantine is actually called "voluntary isolation." The nurse who is so upset really ought to be in voluntary isolation. We do seem to have a serious problem with medical personnel who do not understand standard protocols for infectious disease. If I were returning from a time in an ebola clinic, I would have stayed in a hotel in Africa for three weeks before I came home. Then I would have stayed in my home with no visitors for three weeks when I got here. I would not have needed cajoled into this, and would have done it without anyone ordering me to. I would be THAT careful about not giving it to my family. Maybe today's healthcare professionals can learn a little from zoologists?
