Then . . . we discovered that the dominant Native American province in the Southeast during the 1500s and up to the mid-1600s was the Kingdom of Apalache. It was located in northeastern Georgia, the exact location where no Spanish conquistadors were allowed to go. French ethnographer, Charles de Rochefort, had written in 1658 about a private expedition into Apalache during 1653. His book is taken very seriously in Europe, but was filed in the "Fantasy and Utopia" bin of Brown University ages ago. T
