Russian Man Sentenced To Prison For Trying To Smuggle High-Tech Military Night Vision ..

• Business Insider

Prosecutors said Wednesday that 53-year-old Dmitry Ustinov of Moscow was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware. He will spend 18 months in prison, followed by three years supervised release. Ustinov will be deported after he is released from prison.

According to court documents, Ustinov worked to export 17 different night vision devices and thermal imaging scopes that are designated as U.S. military materials. Prosecutors say he used a front company and falsely labeled shipments to avoid detection by customs officials.

Ustinov was arrested in April 2013 in Lithuania at the request of U.S. officials. He pleaded guilty last year to the conspiracy.
