New York City Council Rejects Petition to Investigate 9/11 Collapse...

The NY Post has reported that the New York City Council will not be accepting over 30,000 signatures for the High Rise Safety Initiative, a measure that would require an investigation into all high rise collapses on or since September 11, 2001. City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito told the Post that the City will not waste taxpayer dollars by "humoring conspiracy theorists". Activists and 9/11 victims family members with the NYC Coalition for Accountability Now have worked since March to gather over 100,000 signatures to place the measure on the November ballot.The group released a statement on Friday stating that they had filed suit against the city. Representatives of the city will be required to appear in court for an initial hearing on Thursday, August 14.
