Want to Be in the New Star Wars? It’ll Cost You $10

• http://www.wired.com, By Graeme McMillan
Admittedly, it could end up costing far more than $10, but that’s up to you. As part of a new program created in partnership with Unicef called Force for Change, aspiring actors can donate anywhere from 10 bucks to $50,000 for the chance to win a cameo in full costume and makeup in Star Wars: Episode VII. A $10 donation—the funds go to Unicef Innovation—will buy you one entry into the lottery, but there are different donation levels with additional rewards; $500 nets you 50 entries and exclusive concept art from Episode VII, for example, while $5,000 will result in a limited edition lightsaber hilt accompanying your 500 entries into the draw. That $50,000 donation? That gets you a private screening of Star Wars: Episode VII in or near your hometown ahead of the movie’s official release. Force for Change was unveiled by Episode VII director J.J. Abrams during an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America today, with the director and co-writer saying that the cameo was a way of giving something back to the faithful Star Wars fanbase. “We’re so grateful to all the Star Wars fans out there for their support and their patience, that we would like to invite you to be part of the fun here,” he said, while an alien wandered around in the background.
