May 3, 2014 Farm Vendor Market ~ Veggie List ~ Raffle

• Tonopah Rob

Tis’ the season for summer squash. Pictured here are Patty Pan Summer Squash. These and several other varieties will be on the tables this weekend, come and get’em.

I can’t believe April has snuck bye and now it’s time for the last Farm Vendor market of the season.  Come on out and stock up on your Alaskan Salmon,, home-made breads and more.  We will be open from 8 to noon.  Make plans to come out to the farm and get your fresh berries and vegetables.

Stage Line Ranch will be selling their Criollo Grass Fed Beef.  They are a new vendor to the market this month.  I’ve heard rave reviews about their beef by several of my CSA members whom have bought the beef.  Mike Ewens, the owner of Stage Line Ranch said his beef is USDA processed by the University of Arizona Meat Laboratory and is lower in cholesterol.

Freshly harvest red, white, and yellow onions

It’s sweet onion season.  Pictured here are Burgundy Red and White Grano….they are delicious.

Tonopah Rob will be selling raffle tickets for a CSA Half Share, a 250.00 value. Tickets go on sale at the Farm Vendor Market and will be available the whole month of May and up to the first Saturday of June.  The cost per ticket is 5.00 dollars.  Tickets will be sold at the Farm Stand or you can mail in a check and use your debit or credit card.  The drawing will be held on the first Saturday of June after the closing of the market.  The money will go towards the purchase of more fruit trees.

More exciting news!  Tonopah Rob is expanding his farm via aquaponics.  Aquaponics is farming with fish and plants.  The goal is to have fresh fish for sale by November. Tilapia and Bass will be raised on the farm.  All fish food will come from the farm as well.  To help fund this project, Tonopah Rob will host the first farm fund-raiser dinner.  Come dine under the stars.  The night will begin with a farm tour, followed by an evening of great food, dessert and a concert.  More information will be announced later.

Tonopah Rob will be offering farm tours.  First tour of the day will be at 9:30 and the second tour at 11 a.m.  There is a small admission fee for the tour.  Bring plenty of water, a hat, and please do not wear any open toed shoes like sandals, thongs, socks with holes or high heels; tennis shoes or hiking boots are best.
