After weeks of debate and a Western draft that set the stage for
military intervention, the UN Security Council has finally reached a unanimous agreement on a compromise Syrian aid resolution.
The resolution, penned by Australia and Jordan, urges both sides to allow humanitarian aid to civilian populations regardless of who controls the territory they are living in.
The resolution also condemns terror attacks, calls on both sides to
take steps to end violence around civilians, and urges the Syrian
military to stop the use of makeshift barrel bombs.
