Journalist becomes first person charged under Operation Tuleta

Ben Ashford, 34, is to be charged in relation to allegations that he accessed information on a mobile phone belonging to someone else.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it had authorised the police to charge Mr Ashford with possession of criminal property and unauthorised access to computer material.

He is due to appear before Westminster Magistrates on October 15.

A CPS spokesman said: “Gregor McGill, a senior lawyer at the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "The CPS has today authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Ben Ashford with one offence of possession of criminal property and one offence of unauthorised access to computer material."
