Local Republicans in turmoil - Coconino County, Arizona

A dispute over who's in and who's out of leadership at the Coconino County Republican Committee temporarily landed at the Flagstaff Police Department after the group's bank account was emptied.

Flagstaff police aren't treating it as a criminal matter, but the case does expose some deep divisions over who should run the local GOP group.

At stake is who gets to vote for state party leadership, push platforms and nominate Republicans to fill rare vacancies.

Ray Jordan, 75, reported $8,226, or all of the group's money, was gone after he found it missing from the Republican Committee's account.

"As the treasurer, I was responsible for this money, and someone could come back to me and say: 'Hey, you owe us this money,' and so I went straight to the Flagstaff Police Department," to report it missing, he said.

Why, this must be a belated April Fools joke.  I've never heard of such a thing.  These claims are utterly untenable.  Couldn't happen.
