Woman allegedly runs over husband for not voting

A Mesa man is in critical condition after his wife allegedly ran him down in a parking lot because he did not vote.

According to police, it happened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday in a parking lot on Gilbert Road south of Vaughn Avenue, which is between Guadalupe and Elliot roads.

Sgt. Jesse Sanger of the Gilbert Police Department said it started with an argument between Holly Solomon, 28, and her husband, Daniel. The reason for the argument reportedly was Daniel's failure to vote in the Nov. 6 president election.

"According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama’s re-election," Sanger said in an e-mail to media outlets Monday morning.

Witnesses told investigators they heard quite a bit of yelling before seeing Holly get into a Jeep SUV and start chasing her 36-year-old husband through the parking lot.
