After creating a free open source font to help benefit people with dyslexia, developer Abelardo Gonzalez was hit with a cease and desist letter from a fellow designer threatening a lawsuit. The letter was intended to end competition due to Gonzalez's much more affordable price for the font. It is just another way patents discourage competition and actually hurt those trying to help people, and strengthens the case against patent laws.
