Judge Andrew Napolitano weighed in on the ruling, saying that the DOJ argued that the law, which requires people to physically show a government-issued I.D. at the time of voting, would suppress minority voting because many don’t have a valid government I.D. 

Napolitano said, “The law of the land is if a state does something that disparately suppresses a minority group or affects a minority group differently than it affects the majority, then the law arguably violates the 14th amendment.”
