GAME ON! $3 Billion Mamizu MACC Contract for Guam Military Buildup Re-Emerges

• guam buildup news
"All contract proposals for this solicitation are now due back to NAVFAC Pacific by June 21, 2011," the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Pacific, said in a press release. "The government intends to award one seed project immediately after the MACC holders have been issued their contracts."

The Mamizu MACC is the second-biggest contract, after the $4 billion Guam Design-Build MACC, meant to help prepare Guam for the transfer of at least 8,600 Marines and their families and support staff from Okinawa no sooner than 2016. A Government Accountability Office report last week said the cost for the whole buildup will probably exceed $17.4 billion.
