Cloud computing at risk from approaching solar storms

• Terrence Aym
As the sun ramps up towards solar maximum the years 2011 through 2013 could be dangerous ones—not necessarily for carbon-based life, but for all the silicon "life" humanity has created over the past four decades.In-the-know government agencies like the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and the European Space Agency have been holding emergency meetings on and off all around the world to address the dangers of the approaching solar maximum storms and how to protect modern technology from them.As cloud computing has matured, more applications have grown from it and although the software and hardware engineers argue that the architecture is robust, little or no protection has been created to shield the technology from the powerful magnetic fluxes generated from solar storms. As with the entire Internet system it's based upon, cloud computing becomes ever more fragile as it expands. Cloud servers could all be wiped out
