ACLU obtains document stating 9/11 commission told to "not cross the line"

• By Gregory Patin, Orlando Independent Examiner
According to a document obtained by the ACLU under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) on Tuesday March 16, the 9/11 commission was warned on Jan. 6th, 2004 by high-level administration officials to "not cross the line" in the investigation of the events that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001. The high-level administration officials included Attorney General John Ashcroft, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and CIA Director George J. Tenet. The ACLU described it as a fax sent by David Addington, then-counsel to former vice president Dick Cheney.

Most of us out here in the public don't get it yet. If there happens to be an honest person in a high position in Government, and if he wants to do the right thing one time, he is threatened with assassination if he decides to do what is right. The threat is, of course, couched in certain wording that can be interpreted as nothing more than a request, if made public. But everybody knows what it really means... everybody who looks, and thinks about it a little.
