Mike Sylvia

Mike Sylvia is currently serving his forth term as State Representative for the Town of Belmont in the New Hampshire legislature.  He is chairman of the Belknap County Delegation, which serves as the legislative branch of the county.  His focus at the State House is government transparency, including the Right To Know law and civil asset forfeiture reform.  His voting record has earned him several awards from both non-partisan and conservative organizations.  The New Hampshire House Republican Alliance ranks his voting on Constitutional and Party platform votes, where he consistently scores in the upper 90 percent of votes, and is now serving as a chairman.  In 2018 he received an award from the New Hampshire Liberty Alliance for legislator of the year.

He recently retired from a 34 year career at FedEx, where he was known for his dedication to customer service and leadership in his work group.  While working with FedEx he earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Rhode Island.  Away from work his drive to run lead him thrice to the summit in the Mt. Washington Road Race.  He enjoys gardening and taunting Mother Nature by putting out his tomatoes and corn plants much earlier than She approves. He participates in volunteer activities with several organizations, including Cayuga Dog Rescue, Lakes Region Porcupines, and Shire Sharing.

Do You Own Your Property

On Thursday,December 19, 2019 the Belknap Superior court issued its ruling in the case of Town of Belmont v. Mike Sylvia. The court ordered an injunction against the use of my property, and awarded attorney's fees to be paid to the town. They held in abeyance any fines for prior use of my own property.

At the heart of this issue is the people's right to ownership of property. To own a thing is to have control of that thing. If one owns and controls an object then he has a right to use that property as he sees fit as long as his use harms no other. If one is truly an owner there is no need to ask for permission to use that which is owned. To be required to seek permission to use ones own property, such as applying for a building permit, is contrary to our right of holding property.

The New Hampshire constitution, upon which our government claims authority, is a beloved document which I hold in high esteem. It predates the founding of the united States and is by far a better constitution than the U.S. Constitution. It was made clear prior to the formation of the New Hampshire state government that the construction of a government could not come into being until the inalienable rights of the people were documented. Therefore, before the republic was established in Part II of the New Hampshire constitution, Part I reserved to the people of the state all the essential rights which were unnecessary to a proper government. Only after our rights were reserved did we then parse out powers that would be necessary to a just government.

We the people of New Hampshire surrendered up only such authority as would be needed to form a society which could work together for the protection of all citizens. This exchange was to protect our rights to life, liberty, property and the pursuit of happiness.

Among the proper roles of our government is to assure against trespasses upon its citizens. If the actions of one person reaches into harming the rights of another citizen the state was empowered with what is know as the police power of the state. All of the reserved rights of Part I were held as private rights which would be protected by the state; lacking that protection the constitution is null.

In the case at hand the court has ruled that I have harmed the Town of Belmont. I did not go to the Town and ask for permission to use my property. The harm alleged is that I have violated a Town ordinance. I posit that the Town's ordinance is in violation of my Part I protected right to the ownership and peaceful enjoyment of my property. As we all should know, any law made in violation of our constitution is a nullity. The Town has not protected my right to property, it has failed to do so.

As we go onward from here, I want to express my gratitude for friends and neighbors who have supported my efforts along the way. I have stood not only for myself but for the people of Belmont and beyond. So, I ask you; do we accept that our property is not our own?

Randy Steppick - They call him "Cowboy", but his birth name is Randy Steppick. Being born in Fort Worth, Texas, "Where the West Begins", he still spends a lot of time in the Stockyards, the home of Billy Bob's Texas, and the White Elephant Saloon. It has been a favorite place for him to network and get exposure not only for the current trend in Country music, but also his own music. Randy draws a lot of inspiration from the generation of the mid-eighties to the late nineties. Alan Jackson, Clint Black. Hank Williams Jr., Randy Travis, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, to name a few. When Randy knew he could write music that made people feel good, that put a whole new meaning to inspiration. Eighteen years ago, just killing time, Randy sat at a table, attempting to build a house with playing cards. This is when his first song started coming to him . He started vocalizing the intro, then the lyrics started coming , and thus his song, "Card House", became a reality. Since that day, his songs all come at once in the same way, when an idea comes to mind. He feels that most good songs come from tough personal experiences that writers walk through in their lives ,and the repetition thereof. He believes they can most clearly identify the sincere blessedness of good times, and are fortunate to be able to write and sing about them while they are still living. Randy realized this was no passing fancy with him, and knew he would need to study the business end of the music business to succeed. He already knew where he wanted to go. He has read books and asked questions to find the answers he knew he would need to know. He has fifty songs under copyright and has set up his own publishing. Randy has just completed his first project of original material which tells the story in itself of his capabilities as a writer. This ten song sampling is just the tip of the ice-burg to come from his catalogue ,which contains country, gospel, cajun, and comedy. Not being a stranger to anyone he meets, and not being afraid of work, to get the job done, we can expect many things from this young man who has put God as first in charge of his life. Song titled "All About the Money", cut and released by Larry Cox/Tennessee LaRue, a former "Buck Owens Buckaroo" from TV program "Hee-Haw", touring etc... This title is POLITICAL GENRE like NEVER before released to the public, EVER ! There could NOT be a more timely song to release RIGHT NOW, given the current state of affairs. Written by Randy Steppick/Rose Jeffus. I'm a former member of the "Fort Worth Songwriters Assn." Rose is still a member. LaRue cut this song in Bluff City, TN. I have a gooood story about this whole project-song. I mean every word in this song, seeing as I wrote it. And, I know facts about the USA, and the self serving Governments financial history !
