Crazy but true:

Due to the deregulation act of 1978, air ambulances are classified as common carriers. Which means the company can charge whatever they want. No insurance company or insurance regulator can influence them. In fact, the only governing body for the air ambulance company is the FAA. So these air ambulance companies can charge an individual $40,000, $50,000 or as reported as much as $80,000 for a flight to save an injured or sick persons life!

Victor Riches

Victor Riches is President and CEO of the Goldwater Institute. Prior to joining the Institute, Victor served as Arizona Governor Doug Ducey's Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Budget, where he was responsible for the formation and passage of all of the Governor's major policy objectives as well as the state's budget. While working for the Governor, he developed and passed into law legislation to protect the sharing economy and restrict the power of unelected bureaucrats. Victor also crafted and negotiated Arizona's first balanced budget in nearly a decade.
