Why Vector?

Where You Want It, When You Want It, How You Want It

Vector is the first launch vehicle built exclusively for the Micro Satellite market. This vehicle is "right-sized" for the new generation of Micro Satellites and enables reliable and frequent access to orbit. Initial Operations Capability will be 12 launches per year in 2019 with 100 launches at Full Operational Capability.

With Vector, Your Satellite Rides Naked

What's the big deal ? Large satellites ride naked on large rockets but small satellites are required to ride inside of restrictive containers. There's freedom in riding naked – like larger solar arrays, deployed antennas and other elements that might not fit into a dispenser. And then there's the weight of the required secondary spacecraft containers which adds little value to the mission. That's a lot of trouble to go through for a bus ride to an orbit destination that may or may not be your first choice. Its almost as if the big satellites don't trust you. Vector will free you from the constraint of containerized launch and will remain compatible with the 1U, 2U, 3U and 12U satellite systems widely available. The big difference with Vector is we don't require you to provide a deployment container and give that launch mass back to you. This gives you a new freedom to add bigger solar panels or other elements that were not possible before with traditional launch containers. Of course, if you like your container and want to keep it that way, we can accommodate that too. Its your choice.

An Affordable Rocket With Two Classes Of Service

It normally takes a lot of cash to buy a dedicated launch vehicle but Vector brings the price down to a level within theaffordability range of most startups and budget conscious satellite operators. Controlling your own launch manifest is the only way to make sure that the launch goes to the orbit of your choosing and on a schedule that you specify and thus not creating extra opportunity cost while you wait for your next launch.

Vector, owing to its small size, advanced technology and low touch labor in the manufacturing processes offers the lowest price in the launch industry for dedicated launch. We also offer two classes of service rather than a one size fits all pricing scheme. It may seem odd to offer satellite launch pricing like airlines offer passenger ticket fares.

The truth is that not all satellite operator needs are created equal. This is especially true in the fast moving world of micro satellites where development times are measured in months rather than years and time to launch can become a critical factor in time to market and to the overall success of your venture. The opportunity cost of waiting a year for launch is measured in millions rather than thousands of dollars. For these customers, we offer First Class Launch Service where you can order up a launch vehicle with as little as 3 months notice. There are others that have a more laid back attitude about destination and exact launch date and for them, the typical Economy Class Launch Service is adequate and the reduced price is attractive. Whichever the case may be, Vector will have reliable and frequent launch rates to support last minute launch requests and other premium services.

"Vector … wants to do for spaceflight what Apple CEO Steve Jobs did for so many other industries: Revolutionize it."

Company

Vector is a disruptive innovator that connects space startups and innovators with affordable and reliable space access. Vector has a BIG vision to reshape the multi-billion launch market and combines dedicated low-cost micro satellites launch (Vector Launch) AND software defined satellites (Galactic Sky) to dramatically increase access and speed to orbit.

The Vector launch vehicle family consists of the Vector R (Rapid) and the Vector H (Heavy) launchers. The Vector R places 66 kg into orbit and is our basic first use capability. The Vector-H places 160 kg into orbit and is a block upgrade to the Vector-R. The two launch vehicles share common technology and launch facilities including pressure fed ablative engines, carbon fiber fuselage, LOX/Propylene fuels and mobile launch capability. This is the only launch system dedicated to micro spacecraft and will allow you to launch your satellite when you want and to where you want.

Galactic Sky transforms the space segment from its current hardware centric state to a simpler software development proposition with software defined satellites. Our ultimate vision is one of space app developers being able to develop satellite applications on their desktop computer and uploading it to an at the ready satellite constellation yielding nearly instant data and revenue.

Vector will free you, the Space App Developer, to do what you do best …. innovate and build.

Vector's larger goal is a platform for Space App Developers allowing you to concentrate on developing your solutions and not worrying about procuring launches and satellites. We believe that you, the satellite developer and operator, would rather focus on your core innovations than solving launch problems. Next time you launch, leave the transportation to us and Vector will be ready when you are.

VEHICLE SUMMARY

Vector Launch Vehicle Family

Vector Space is fielding a family of small launch vehicles consisting of the Vector-R (Rapide) and the Vector-H (Heavy). The Vector-R is design for rapid and frequent launch of payloads weighing up to 66 kg and will be available for commercial flights in 2018 and is designed to have launch cadence up to 100 flights per year. The Vector-H is a larger vehicle based on the Vector-R design but capable of deploying 160 kg class satellites into LEO and launching small deep space missions. The Vector-H will be available in mid 2019 for commercial flights at launch cadences up to 25 flights per year. Both launch vehicles will operate from either Kodiak Alaska (PSCA) or Cape Canaveral (CCAFS).

The Vector launch vehicle family derives historically from the Garvey Spacecraft NLV-20 launch vehicle that has been under development for a number of years. These vehicles use an all carbon fiber fuselage along with pressurized propulsion feed systems operated by patented pressurization systems using safe low pressure systems. The Vector-R is a larger version of the NLV-20 using three first stage engines and a larger second stage for more orbital insertion capability. The Vector-H is a stretched version of the Vector-R and uses a five engine first stage with longer tanks and a full diameter second stage. Both vehicles share common avionics and engines. We offer optional electric third stages and both standard and enlarged payload fairings for both vehicles.

Vector-R (Rapide)

The Vector-R launches up to 66 kg to Low Earth orbit with a small, simple two-stage rocket. We launch into polar and Sun Synchronous orbits from the Pacific Spaceport Complex in Alaska (PSCA) and low inclination orbits from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS) in Florida. We can launch various payloads to different orbits please refer to our Vector-R Launch Service Guide

The Vector-R operates from a mobile launch platform from either the PSCA or the CCAFS. The Vector launch vehicle requires a minimum setup time, minimum range resources, and can operate from remote locations other than our standard ranges. The Vector-R is designed for flight rates of more than 100 flights per year at full operational capability.
