So now America sleeps on the ramifications of the Obama July 27 2009 doctrine, which issues an historic presidential decree saying that American consumers should consume less and the Chinese consume more. I have isolated 10 events that are likely to follow if the Obama doctrine actually comes to pass. It is by no means an exhaustive list. I think it highly likely that the doctrine will become a reality – firstly, because the previous system was always flawed for the long term and secondly, if the Americans were to continue to consume as before, they would find the Chinese will impose the Obama doctrine on them by restricting the amount of money available for US markets.
