Jesus quoted a Bible passage in Leviticus when He said, "Love your neighbor as yourself." But He knew that most of us at some time don't love ourselves very much. So, Jesus repeated in John, something similar, but not quite the same. Jesus said to His Disciples, "Love each other as I have loved you." He showed what that meant when He said, "Greater love has no man than to lay down his life for his friends." Jesus did this for all of us in His work on the cross, and then His resurrection on the third day.
