John you are correct to be suspicious of this. Not only was the press initially reporting that the two items first inspected turned out to not be bombs (in one case they were "a box of receipts" which made them initially suspicious how?). But the press did an immediate 180 when Obama did a live presser from the White House to announce a multiple bomb plot was averted by Homeland Security. [No aspirin factories were destroyed in the making of this pre-election diversion.]
Yet the best photo of one of these bombs I have seen is a disassembled cell phone motherboard, cellphone battery and split apart laser toner cartridge shell with no more than four ounces of a white gel (explosive?). Certainly suspicious object...but not a bomb that was designed to go off in a plane. Were terrorists planning to call in a detonation? If so, then they were targeting delivery guys unless they could track delivery to these synagogues through GPS and then place a call.
