Trump Announces Candidacy for Reelection

by Stephen Lendman

Trump earlier signaled his intention to run for reelection.

On Tuesday, he made it official, saying:

"I am tonight announcing my candidacy for president of the US."

"I will ensure (that the fake) Biden does not receive four more years."

"Together we will be taking on the most corrupt forces and entrenched interests imaginable."

"Our country is in a horrible state."

"We're in grave trouble."

"This is not a task for a politician or a conventional candidate."

"This is a task for a great movement that embodies the courage, confidence, and the spirit of the American people."

A pox on both wings of the US war party.

They're both too debauched to fix, undemocratic Dems the least acceptable of two deplorable options.

Whichever wing of the war party wins, the vast majority of ordinary people everywhere loses.

Yet by going against the grain on some issues, Trump far and away is preferable to the fake Biden or another Dem standard bearer.

Dems are the party of rigged elections, of forever war on Russia at risk of going nuclear, of preemptive use of nukes, of kill shots to eliminate unwanted segments of societies worldwide.

Instead of forthrightly opposing all of the above and more of the same, Republicans either go along or are largely tepid.

And don't forget.

The mother of all state-sponsored scams — all things flu/covid — began with Trump as president.

He could have rendered the scam stillborn but failed to act responsibly.

If reelected president in 2024 — a long-shot at best because Dem election-rigging will likely foil him again — will he go where he hadn't gone before?

Will he halt US support for Ukrainian Nazis?

Will he step back from pursuing regime change against China, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and other nations free from US control?

All US/Western politicians lie, time and again saying one thing — especially on the stump campaigning — then going another way in office.

Yet true enough.

During his four years as president, Trump didn't initiate war on another nation.

But he raped and destroyed Mosul, Iraq and Raqqa, Syria gratuitously, massacring tens of thousands of defenseless civilians.

He tried and failed to starve Venezuelans and Syrians into submission.

He more one-sidedly supported apartheid Israel than any of his predecessors — showing contempt for Palestinian rights for praying to the wrong God.

He breached international law and right of Palestinians to self-determination by illegally moving the US embassy in Israel to Jerusalem — a UN recognized international city.

He falsely blamed Iran for US/Israeli crimes committed against the nation and its people.

He pardoned, commuted, or rescinded convictions for dozens of rogues — including four Blackwater hired gun killers.

By assassinating widely respected Iranian General Qassem Soleimani — a peace and rule of law champion — he more greatly destabilized the Middle East, along with OKing state-sponsored murder.

His MAGA agenda supports US dominance on the world stage over multilateralism and mutual cooperation among nations.

He waged technological war on China in support of US corporate predators.

Despite all of the above and more of the same, Trump is highly preferable to any undemocratic Dem, especially the fake Biden.

In response to DJT's announced candidacy, MSM jumped all over him by reciting its customary litany of bald-faced Big Lies.

Ignoring the 2022 Big Steal by Dems, the NYT dubiously blamed him for what it called the GOP's "weak midterm showing (sic)."

According to Times editors, hegemon USA "deserves better than Trump."

Claiming his current campaign "poses greater dangers to American democracy (sic)" than the first time around ignored that US/Western regimes virtually ban governance of, by and for everyone equitably in support of privileged interests over the vast majority.

And this Times trash:

"Don't let Trump play the underdog," it hyperventilated.

More trash, falsely calling his announced candidacy "a sign of weakness (sic)."

According to the broadsheet's resident right-wing extremist, Bret Stephens, "he's finished as a serious contender for high office (sic)."

And this from notorious prostitute of the press, Thomas Friedman:

"Trump spent the past two years smearing and undermining, managing to bring a majority of his party along with him in his giant, fraudulent claim (sic) that the 2020 election was stolen from him."

And this turning truth on its head and trampling on it by WaPo, falsely blaming him for Dem-orchestrated Capitol Hill violence on January 6, 2021.

And this from AP (fake) News:

Trump's announced candidacy for president "force(s) the party to again decide whether to embrace a candidate whose refusal to accept defeat in 2020 sparked an insurrection (sic) and pushed American (fantasy) democracy to the brink (sic)."

MSM's straightaway reaction to Trump's announced candidacy for reelection was just the beginning of what's sure to be a steady blitzkrieg of fake news to follow.

He's wrongheaded on lots of domestic and geopolitical issues.

Yet he correctly denounced the scourge of MSM fake news.

And one more thing.

With him in the race for the White House, they'll nary be a dull moment from now through the Nov. 5, 2024 presidential election and its aftermath.

"The Joint (will be) Jumpin" for the next two years.
