Unacceptable Biden Regime Scheme to Partially Release Stolen Afghan Funds

by Stephen Lendman

In August 2021, the Biden regime illegally froze Afghan funds held at the New York Fed, totaling around $9 billion — including $2 billion held by complicit Western vassals.

The diabolical action was and continues to be a scheme to deny Taliban authorities access to the nation's money.

At the time, Biden regime dark forces ordered the IMF and World Bank to deny financial aid to Afghanistan — with more greatly immiserating its people in mind beyond unspeakable horrors they endured for 20 years of US war and occupation.

Illegally imposed sanctions on the country remain in place — with no likely prospect of easing them, more likely to be imposed.

The Biden regime's so-called "commitment to the Afghan people" is all about no end to imperial ruthlessness as long as Taliban authorities remain free from hegemon USA control.

Last week, the Biden regime's Treasury Department announced an unacceptable scheme for a so-called Afghan Fund with $3.5 billion to be established at the Basle, Switzerland-based Bank of International Settlements (BIS) — the banking boss of bosses central banker for central bankers.

While deposited at the BIS, Biden regime dark forces will oversee disbursements.

According to two anonymous US Treasury officials, the scheme intends to continue denying the Taliban access to Afghanistan's money — on the phony pretext providing it to aid ordinary Afghans, ones hegemon USA doesn't give a hoot about.

The diabolical scheme may also use remaining frozen Afghan funds to aid 9/11 victims — ignoring their state-sponsored victimizer, the empire of lies and forever wars.

Separately in July as part of a record-high enacted military budget for perpetual war-making, Congress included a provision to deny long-suffering Afghans humanitarian aid as long as the nation is free from the scourge of US control.

Nor has there been any accountability for crimes of war, against humanity and related atrocities by the Pentagon and CIA since preemptive war was launched on the country in October 2001 — based on bald-faced Big Lies.

Nor were any US officials charged with torture and abuse inflicted on thousands of political prisoners in Afghanistan and at many other Pentagon/CIA-run global gulag black sites.

In response to the unacceptable Biden regime scheme for so-called disbursement of stolen Afghan funds, Taliban spokesman, Suhail Shaheen, rejected what no one should accept, saying:

Hegemon USA's stolen funds "should be returned to Afghanistan," adding:

"In this critical time when 99% of Afghans are living under the poverty line, it is direly needed that (stolen) reserve(s) (be) return(ed) to the country."

Freezing billions of dollars 13 months ago continued US war on Afghanistan by other means, its ordinary people harmed most.

In his book, titled "Freedom Next Time: Resisting the Empire," award-winning journalist, author, war correspondent and documentary filmmaker, John Pilger, explained the following on Afghanistan, saying:

US imperial war on the country since 2001 was the latest chapter of "an age-old story for these beleaguered people who've had a long history of conflict and suffering with little relief ever."

"For almost a century, the country was victimized by the 'Great Game' of competition between the British empire vying with Tsarist Russia for control of this part of the world."

"In recent history, it paid dearly again in the 1980s when a US recruited mujahedin guerrilla army battled against a Soviet occupation."

"It forced the occupiers out but only at the expense of a ravaged country that never recovered throughout the 1990s as a brutal civil conflict followed the Soviet withdrawal."

"Then came 9/11 and the US inflicted nightmare that continues to this day with no end in sight."

"So what was the (US war), invasion and occupation all about?" We now know."

"(I)t was planned (long) before 9/11 and had nothing to do with a Muslim fundamentalist government…"

"It had everything to do with an Afghan leadership that wouldn't surrender its authority to US demands and its imperial quest to dominate this strategically important region."

"Through all the humanitarian crises in living memory, no country has been abused and suffered more, and none has been helped less, than Afghanistan."

The longstanding nightmare suffered by its people continues to the present day — hegemon USA its oppressor with no relief in prospect.

A Final Comment

Commenting on the unacceptable Biden regime scheme, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said the following:

The empire of lies and forever wars "announced plans to establish an Afghan trust fund."

A good will step in the right direction?

Far from it!

Hegemon USA "owes Afghanistan" and its long-suffering people restitution for decades of raping and destroying the country in pursuit of its diabolical aims.

"First (illegally) seize (Afghan) money."

"Then establish a trust fund" (the US) controls, not the country's government," Zakharova explained.

And if implemented, what'll funds be used for?

If disbursed for anything, they'll go for what the US decides at its discretion with its own interests in mind — clearly no intention of aiding ordinary Afghans.

"How would you describe this in legal terms," Zakharova asked?

"Misappropriation? This is exactly what it is, the misappropriation of others' money."

"It is unlikely to improve the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan in any way."

"Resolute measures to restore the Afghan economy that was destroyed by the US-NATO (war and) occupation are long overdue."
