Independence Day Hypocrisy at a Time of US Proxy War on Russia — Risking WW III

by Stephen Lendman

Turning reality on its head in commemorating hegemon USA's Independence Day 2021, the White House imposter hailed (greatly eroded) "freedom" in the country that's fast disappearing altogether.

Nothing remotely suggests "the greatest and goodness of (a) nation" at war on humanity at home and worldwide — notably at a time when things are heading for possible East/West confrontation with nukes.

Notions of a "promised land where equality is not only an aspiration, but a reality" ignored longstanding US governance of, by and for the privileged few at the expense most others at home and abroad.

"(W)ho we are (and) what we do" caused more harm to more people over a longer duration than any other nation in world history.

What the fake Biden called a "pandemic" was invented, not real — except among countless millions of irreparably harmed victims of health-destroying kill shots.

What he called "record job creation" overwhelmingly includes ones paying poverty and sub-poverty wages with few or no benefits.

Ignored was real unemployment of 24.6% today — based on how it was calculated pre-1990.

The phony official 3.6% figure insults tens of millions of US households struggling to make ends meet, including millions of food insecure ones, unsure where their next meal is coming from.

It's at a time when the gap between rich and the vast majority is greater than any time since US robber barons ran things in the late 19th and early 20th century.

According to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities:

"(T)he share of wealth held by the top 1 percent rose from 30 percent in 1989 to 39 percent in 2016, while the share held by the bottom 90 percent fell from 33 percent to 23 percent."

The inequality gap continues to widen further annually.

In the world's richest country, poverty is a growth industry.

Saying "America is coming back" ignored a nation permanently at war by hot and/or other means on invented enemies.

It ignored 16.8% inflation year-over-year, not the phony 8.6% figure.

Indeed "America is unique" — for waging perpetual wars from inception to now, with brief moments of peace along the way.

Notions of "honesty…decency…treating everyone with dignity and respect, giving everyone a fair shot, demonizing no one, giving hate no safe harbor, and leaving no one behind" are worlds apart different from how the empire of lies operates on the world stage.

"Democracy" in America is exclusively for the privileged few.

The real thing for everyone was banned from inception.

What a NYT fake news opinion peace called "patriotism" displayed on July 4, a holiday "mark(ing) what holds us together," is more illusion than reality in a nation hostile to peace, equity, justice and the rule of law — on a fast track toward the abolition of what little remains of greatly eroded freedoms.

Holiday celebrants ignore US history. Students aren't taught it in school.

Making them subservient to the will of privileged interests alone matters.

Outings, picnics, barbecues, ballgames, outdoor concerts, parades, fireworks displays, visits to the shore, and other types of recreation shift attention from hegemon USA's dark side, its imperial wars, human rights abuses, eroding civil liberties, deep-seated racism and class wars.

When America declared independence from Britain on July 4, 1776, everything changed but stayed the same under new management.

Duplicitous politicians planned things this way.

"We the people," meant them alone.

They created a government of men, not laws.

Property owners alone had rights. Ordinary people were entirely left out.

Until the Constitution's 19th Amendment enfranchised women in August 1920 for the first time, they were considered homemakers and child-rearers alone — appendages of their husbands.

The nation's second president, John Adams, spoke for other members of the US privileged class, saying:

The nation should be run "the rich, the well born, and the able" — meaning themselves, no others.

From the nation's founding to the present day, names and faces changed.

Dirty business as usual continues like always before, worsening over time.

Democracy is pure fantasy, not real.

The film "Born on the Fourth of July" is based on anti-war activist Ron Kovic's autobiography.

US aggression in Vietnam left him paralyzed and wheelchair-bound.

Millions of Vietnamese, Cambodians and Laotians were killed from years of terror-bombing their countries — along with from contaminating millions of acres by spraying deadly dioxin-containing Agent Orange.

The agony of what Kovic endured left his body "destroyed, defiled and savaged," along with "physically and emotionally haunted."

He experienced "nightmares, constant anxiety attacks, severe heart palpitations, and a powerful, almost obsessive feeling that (he) would not live past (his) thirtieth birthday."

He justifiably condemned hegemon USA's "policy of deception, distortion, manipulation, and denial" — its ruling class going all-out to conceal the reality of its aggression from the public.

Along with flag-draped coffins, "paraplegics, amputees, burn victims, the blinded and maimed, shocked and stunned, brain damaged and psychologically stressed" US war vets returned home — their lives and well-being irreparably shattered.

Today, hegemon USA uses proxy troops to wage war on nonbelligerent, nonthreatening countries, including ISIS, al-Qaeda and other jihadists — along with White Helmets operating with them.

From April 2014 to the present day, three US regimes used Ukrainian foot soldiers to wage war on Donbass civilians and freedom fighters.

Since Moscow launched its liberating SMO in Ukraine on Feb. 24 — after years of failed diplomacy to end Kiev's war on Donbass — Ukrainians have been used to do hegemon USA's killing and dying.

Their diabolical mission is waging long war to kill and wound as many Russians as possible.

For every Russian casualty, they've been countless greater numbers of killed and wounded Ukrainian troops — cannon fodder the empire of lies doesn't give a damn about.

So instead of bodybags of Americans, paraplegics, others maimed and/or emotionally scarred for life vets returning home, all of the above applies to countless numbers of Ukrainians — victims of their regime's viciousness.

For the dead, survivors and their families, things will never be the same again.

Duplicitous Biden regime politicians and bureaucrats are mindless of the human toll.

Advancing the nation's imperium by whatever it takes to achieve their diabolical aims alone matters.

It continues by endlessly waging forever wars — on Independence Day and all other days throughout the year after year after year with no end of what's gone on in flagrant breach of the rule of law, what the empire of lies long ago abandoned.
