Dirty War Threat of Nuclear Armageddon

by Stephen Lendman

A previous article discussed US history of war crimes throughout its history from inception.

None were good wars.

In his book by that title, Studs Terkel said WW II "warped our view of how we look at things today."

There's nothing good about wars or why they're fought.

Yet "twisted memory…encourages (belligerents like hegemon USA) to be willing, almost eager, to use military force" to solve problems, never mind how they exacerbate them.

Wars are never just or good.

In the nuclear age, they're "lunatic" acts because they risk pushing things too far like in today's unparalleled US/Western cold and proxy hot war on Russia with intent to crush its economy, isolate it, and immiserate its people with the goal of regime change in mind.

At the same time, the growing risk of nuclear war is ignored.

What's unthinkable is more possible than ever since the dawn of the nuclear age.

The consequences if launched need no elaboration.

Yet here's what MSM press agents for wealth, power and privilege don't report.

Last month, physician/anti-nuclear activist Helen Caldicott warned that war in Ukraine "could spell worldwide nuclear disaster," adding:

If a "20-megaton bomb" struck a major city, its explosive "heat of the sun (power would dig) a hole three-quarters of a mile (1.27 km) wide and 88 feet (26.8 meters) deep."

Twenty miles (32.2 km) from the epicenter, all humans would be killed or lethally injured, some converted to charcoal statues."

"Winds of 500 mph (would) turn people into missiles traveling at 100 mph."

"A massive conflagration would follow covering 300 square miles."

"(F)ires would merge across the nation."

"As cities burn across the world, a massive cloud of toxic black smoke will elevate into the stratosphere blocking out the sun for ten years."

"(A) short ice age nuclear winter (would follow) when all humans and most plants and animals will perish."

"God help us all" if anything like the above happens, Caldicott stressed.

Last August, she warned about things "racing with great speed towards a nuclear holocaust (if the) fatal disposition for war" continues, adding:

"We stand on the brink of extinction unaware that our time on this precious lump of rock in the endless universe is almost certainly to come to an end."

We're "racing with great speed towards a nuclear holocaust."

"A gargantuan threat…is treated with ignorance by politicians and (MSM) who practice psychic numbing as we stumble blindly towards our demise."

Because of an unparalleled US/Western threat to Russia's security, Vladimir Putin ordered the country's nuclear forces to be put on a heightened "special regime of combat duty" alert status, saying:

"Western countries aren't only taking unfriendly economic actions against our country, but leaders of major NATO countries are making aggressive statements about our country," adding:

"So, I order to move Russia's deterrence forces to a special regime of combat duty."

Days ahead of his announcement, he warned that if any country challenges Russia militarily, it'll face  consequences "such as you have never seen in your entire history."

Around the same time, senior Biden regime war department officials said that they "do not talk about our strategic posture as a matter of policy."

The Pentagon's Defense Readiness Condition (DEFCON) ranges from 5 to 1.

The latter signifies maximum readiness if nuclear war is imminent or already began.

During the October 1962 Cuban missile crisis, North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) declared a DEFCON 3 level of alert through near-end of November that year.

Russia and the US have sophisticated early warning systems to detect launches of potentially nuclear armed ballistic missiles.

If launched by the US, Britain or France from territory or by submarine(s) near Russia's borders, the country's military would have scant minutes to react and respond.

Because of unparalleled (undeclared) US/Western war on Russia with diabolical aims in mind, the New START arms control agreement between Moscow and Washington won't likely deter dominant Biden regime hardliners of risking the unthinkable by pushing things too far.

Unlike warplanes with nuclear weapons in flight, nuclear-armed missiles when launched can't be recalled.

While the Biden regime hasn't officially placed US nuclear forces on high alert, they're likely readied to be launched in moments if ordered.

Make no mistake.

Hegemon USA bears full responsibility for events in Ukraine — what forced Russia to act defensively to protect its threatened security, along with preventing Kiev's planned full-scale invasion of Donbass.

Arguably, Vladimir Putin should have waited for Kiev's invasion to begin before countering it defensibly.

Once begun, should Russian forces  have used blitzkrieg tactics to smash Ukraine's war machine in days — ending conflict and declaring victory before US/Western infowar reached gale-force strength?

Unlike US-dominated NATO wars on invented enemies — causing mass casualties and destruction — Russia has gone all-out to protect civilian infrastructure and lives.

The admirable aim has come at the expense of a quick, decisive triumph.

Despite having chosen this strategy, perhaps the time has come to intensify its campaign to end it successfully as soon as possible.

Reportedly, Russian forces began striking railway stations and other Ukrainian means of ground transportation to disrupt deliveries of arms, munitions and everything else needed for its troops to operate.

Kiev's oil supplies were greatly depleted by Russian strikes on its depots.

Without regular resupply of arms, fuel and means to transport them, what remains of Ukraine's military cannot operate as an effective fighting force.

Its terror tactics can still cause casualties in Donbass and to Russian forces.

They can be used for implementing false flag incidents like what happened in Bucha.

They can cause mass casualties like what occurred in Kramatorsk by missile strike on its railway stations — falsely blamed on Russia.

It's to Russia's advantage to end things successfully as soon as possible.

The more quickly it's accomplished, the sooner normality can be restored in Donbass.

At the same time, undeclared US/Western war on Russia is likely to continue with no end of it in prospect.

The nuclear sword of Damocles continues to hang precariously by a thread at risk of being cut by accident or madness by dominant lunatics in charge of the Washington asylum.
