Dreaming War, Abhorring Peace: Part II

by Stephen Lendman

From inception, the US waged wars in the name of peace and stability it abhors.

Historian Harry Elmer Barnes once said "(i)f trends continue…we shall soon reach this point of no return, and can only anticipate interminable wars, disguised as noble gestures for peace."

Dwight Eisenhower's warning about the "potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power" went unheeded.

The same goes for what noted evolutionary biologist Ernst Mayr warned about.

Saying if war continues unending, perhaps only beetles, bacteria, fungi, and other microoganisms will remain one day, adding:

Human intelligence is no guarantee of survival. No species ever destroyed itself. Will humans be the first?

The business of America is forever war-making on multiple fronts against invented enemies by hot and/or other means.

Waged against nations free from US control, its perpetual wars risk destruction of planet earth to own it.

According to Reuters on Wednesday, the Biden and Israeli regimes will "discuss (holding joint) military exercises (to) prepare for (striking) Iran's (legitimate) nuclear facilities" if JCPOA talks the US and E3 rigged to fail turn out this way.

Israel's state-owned and operated Kan TV suggested a scenario involving dozens of warplanes.

According to Israeli war minister Benny Gantz, he and Biden regime officials "will discuss possible modes of action to ensure the cessation of (Iran's) attempt to enter the nuclear sphere (sic) and broaden its activity in the region (sic)."

There's no ambiguity about Iran's nuclear program with no nuclear component.

It's well-known that Israel maintains illegal stockpiles of nuclear, chemical, biological and other banned terror weapons.

It's also known that Iran hasn't attacked another country in centuries.

It threatens none now except in self-defense against aggression if occurs, the UN Charter right of all nations.

According to Reuters, US/Israeli drills with war on Iran in mind may be held next year.

Whether the above is saber-rattling or something more serious remains to be seen ahead.

Iran is highly capable militarily to retaliate strongly against aggression if occurs.

If hegemon USA and/or apartheid Israel are foolish enough to launch war by striking targets in the country, retaliation will surely be swift and severe, including likely strikes on US military positions and Israeli cities.

On Thursday, Russia's US embassy commented on hostile remarks by GOP Senator Roger Wicker, saying the following:

"We start making a mistake when we take options off the table."

"I do not rule out American troops on the ground" anywhere.

We don't rule out first-use nuclear action."

"We don't think it will happen, but there are certain things in negotiations, if you are going to be tough, that you don't take off the table."

Russia's US embassy responded as follows to the above remarks, saying:

"Commenting on the situation with the internal Ukrainian crisis, the legislator recommended that the (Biden regime) keep on the table the possibility of a military action, including…use of nuclear weapons against Russia in case of an escalation," adding:

"Such statements are irresponsible."

"It is noteworthy that the state of Mississippi, which is represented by the legislator, hosts the offices of Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Atomics, etc."

"This raises questions. Whose interests does the senator promote when calling for war — the Ukrainians or the US military industry?"

"How is it possible to place lucrative interests of weapons production above peoples' aspirations to protect themselves from the threat of a nuclear missile war?"

In June 2016, a joint Russian/US "document reaffirm(ed) the two countries' commitment to the principle that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought."

"Serious, professional and thoughtful work lies ahead to agree on long-term security guarantees."

"Such a dialogue requires calmness and demonstration of readiness to compromise."

"Wicker's ill-considered statements will hardly help us to find a way out of the critical stage in current Russian-American relations."

On Wednesday, Russian Foreign Ministry's spokeswoman Maria Zakharova commented on provocative US-dominated NATO Black Sea naval and aerial maneuvers "along the perimeter of Russia's borders," adding:

Their military forces pushed things from "attemp(ting) to test the strength of our border protection system to provocations against civilian aircraft, which jeopardizes the safety of the airspace and puts human lives in danger."

Russia formally complained about what it considers unacceptably "dangerous situations (that are occurring) on a regular basis" — heightening tensions more than already.

What's going on includes "US and NATO military aircraft flying without radio communication or flight plans and failing to obtain air traffic control clearances."

These actions breach the 1944 Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation and other international laws.

If not halted, Russia reserves the right to use "all means at (its) disposal to prevent and neutralize emerging threats."

On Thursday, Russia's General Staff commander General Valery Gerasimov warned against escalated provocations by Kiev against Donbass, saying the following:

"(D)eliveries of helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles and aircraft to Ukraine (by the US/West) are pushing the Ukrainian authorities towards abrupt and dangerous steps."

"Kiev is not fulfilling the Minsk Agreements."

"The Ukrainian armed forces are touting that they have started to employ US-supplied Javelin anti-tank missile systems in Donbass and are also using Turkish reconnaissance/strike drones."

"As a result, the already tense situation in the east of that country is further deteriorating."

"However, any provocations by the Ukrainian authorities to settle the Donbass difficulties militarily will be thwarted."

US-dominated "NATO (regimes) pay excessive attention to troop movements on Russian territory" threatening no one.

"The troop relocation in the course of combat training is routine practice for the armed forces of any state."

"Military activity conducted on national territory does not require any notice."

"(M)edia reports on Russia's alleged preparation for an invasion into Ukraine is a lie."

Separately, Gerasimov explained that "Russia's ground-based strategic nuclear forces have over 95% of launchers constantly ready for combat employment."

Efforts are underway to rearm Russia's Strategic Missile Force with Yars intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs).

New Avangard hypersonic missile systems are being placed on combat alert.

"Another nuclear-powered underwater cruiser armed with Bulava ballistic missiles will enter service with the seaborne strategic nuclear forces in the immediate future."

"Work continues to modernize strategic missile carriers of the airborne strategic nuclear forces to enable them to employ advanced long-range precision missiles."

"Russia's nuclear triad provides for the fulfillment of deterrence tasks."

Its "strategic nuclear forces are developing in strict compliance with international commitments defined by the Treaty on Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms (New START)."

Because of US/Western hostile threats, Russia continues to bolsters its defense capabilities to effectively counter threats to its security.

Russia wants peace, not war.

Reality requires that it prepare for the latter if launched by hegemon USA and subservient partners.

On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin stressed that "Russia is conducting a peaceful policy, but it has the right to ensure its security…in the medium and longer term."

Separately on Wednesday, Biden regime assistant war secretary for Indo/Pacific security affairs Ely Ratner called defending Taiwan an "urgent priority."

Ignoring that Beijing considers the territory to be a breakaway province to be reunited to the mainland — with no evidence suggesting military action — Ratner said "bolstering Taiwan's defenses is an urgent priority," adding:

"The PLA is likely preparing for a contingency to unify Taiwan with the PRC by force, while simultaneously attempting to deter, delay, or deny third-party intervention on Taiwan's behalf (sic)."

In response to the above remark and similar ones by Biden regime national security advisor Sullivan, China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said the following:

"As to the Taiwan-related remarks… the US statement once again proved the allegation that the Indo-Pacific strategy does not target any third party is nothing but a disguise."

"On the Taiwan question, the US has been saying and doing wrong things and emboldening the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces. China is firmly opposed to this."

"The root cause of the current tension in cross-Strait relations lies in the DPP authorities' repeated attempt to solicit US support for 'Taiwan independence.' "

"This also has to do with some people in the US, who seek to use Taiwan to contain China."

"We are ready to make every effort with the utmost sincerity to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification."

"But it is absolutely necessary for China to resolutely respond to 'Taiwan independence' separatist activities and external interference, and safeguard its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity."

"No one should entertain any illusion about this."

"The US side (should) fully recognize the highly-sensitive nature of the Taiwan question, and strictly abide by the one-China principle and the three China-US Joint Communiques."

"It should stop selling arms to Taiwan and stop all official and military ties with Taiwan, refrain from sending any wrong signal to the 'Taiwan independence' separatist forces, and avoid seriously undermining China-US relations and peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."

"China's reunification is an unstoppable historical trend that will not be changed by anyone, any force or any country."

The Biden regime's "commit(ment)" to defend Taiwan, its anti-Russia saber-rattling threats, its undisguised hostility toward Iran and other nations free from US hegemonic control risks unthinkable global war 3.0 by accident or design.
