Russia's Anti-Satellite Missile Test

Russia's Anti-Satellite Missile Test

by Stephen Lendman

Biden regime hardliners and imperial partners manufacture reasons to demonize nations unwilling to bend to their will.

Monday was no exception in response to an alleged Russian anti-satellite missile test that Roscosmos head Dmitry Rogozin will discuss with NASA officials on Tuesday.

The agency said debris passed close to the international space station after Russia reportedly destroyed a long out of service Soviet-era Kosmos-1408 satellite launched in 1982, a press statement saying:

"The crew was awakened and directed to close the hatches to radial modules on the station, including Columbus, Kibo, the Permanent Multipurpose Module, Bigelow Expandable Activity Module, and Quest Joint Airlock."

"Hatches between the US and Russian segments remain open."

From 2:00 - 4:00 AM, the ISS crew took shelter "for two passes through or near the vicinity of the debris cloud."

US Space Command head General James Dickinson hyperbolically said "Russia has demonstrated a deliberate disregard for the security, safety, stability, and longterm sustainability of the space domain for all nations (sic)."

Interventionist Blinken hyperventilated in similar fashion, saying:

"On November 15, 2021, the Russian Federation recklessly conducted a destructive test of a direct-ascent anti-satellite missile against one of its own satellites (sic)."

"The long-lived debris created by this dangerous and irresponsible test will now threaten satellites and other space objects that are vital to all nations' security, economic, and scientific interests for decades to come (sic)."

"The safety and security of all actors seeking to explore and use outer space for peaceful purposes has been carelessly endangered by this test (sic)."

The Biden regime "will work with" its imperial partners to escalate war on Russia by other means and more greatly heighten tensions.

State Department spokesman Price made similar hostile remarks.

On Tuesday, Tass reported that Roscosmos director general Dmitry Rogozin will meet with NASA officials in Moscow on Tuesday "to discuss among other issues the situation in which space junk approached the International Space Station (ISS)."

On Monday, Roscosmos tweeted that ISS crew members "routinely perform(ed) operations according to the flight program," adding:

Safety procedures were concluded.

Last July, Sergey Lavrov said "the Americans are working on a program for the deployment of offensive weapons in outer space in the context of the global missile defense system."

Earlier he stressed that "the US… nurtur(es) plans to militarize space as regards the deployment of weapons in space, which, of course, will give an additional very negative dimension to problems of international security."

Last year, he said plans by the US, France "and NATO as a whole to place weapons in outer space are taking shape."

"We are convinced that it is not too late to develop measures acceptable for all to prevent confrontation in outer space."

In September, he said that "US generals are planning for a space war they see as all but inevitable."

Around the same time, deputy US Space Command head General John Shaw said battlefield space is no longer science fiction.

In future armed conflicts, anti-satellite weapons will be used.

According to Biden regime Air Force secretary Frank Kendall:

"It is impossible to overstate the importance of space-based systems to national security (sic)," adding:

Joint chiefs vice chairman General John Hyten "likes to talk about satellites as being 'big fat juicy targets.' "

"I agree with that. But how do we change that?"

"How do we make it more difficult for a potential adversary to think they could succeed in depriving us of our space capabilities?"

US Space Command is developing what Shaw called "space war-fighting doctrine."

Last year, US Space Command said it deployed an advanced ground-based communications jammer that's capable of being used as an "offensive weapon" to disrupt satellite transmissions of (invented) enemies.

Biden regime rage over Russia's much ado about nothing destruction of its near-40-year-old inoperable satellite is one of countless ways that hegemon USA invents reasons to bash invented enemies threatening no one.
