Biden Regime Wants Afghans Starved Into Submission

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Dominant Biden regime hardliners want 38 million Afghans starved into submission to US imperial aims.

That's what blocking over $9 billion in Afghan funds held at the New York Fed is all about — along with ordering the IMF and World Bank to withhold financial aid.

The diabolical aim is similar to what the so-called Caesar Syria Civilian Protection legislation (Caesar Act)  mandates.

It's all about wanting the population starved into submission to Washington's imperial boot.

It threatens sanctions on nations, entities and individuals that maintain legitimate economic, financial, military, and intelligence relations with Damascus — their legal right under international law.

It aims to suffocate Syrians under economic blockade, sanctions and other state terror tactics imposed on the country and its people.

That's what the Biden regime intends for long-suffering Afghans.

Severe economic crisis conditions grip the country for lack of financial resources to address vital needs.

Doctors Without Borders warned that the naion's healthcare system  is near collapse.

Without desperately needed funds not forthcoming so far, most healthcare clinics will cease operating.

According to UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) spokesman Jens Laerke:

"Basic services in Afghanistan are collapsing and food and other life-saving aid is about to run out."

Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid are needed immediately.

Most Afghans are food insecure, unsure where their next meal is coming from.

Over a third of Afghans endure hunger almost daily.

Millions of Afghan refugees are getting scant aid at most.

According to an early September UN report, over 97% of Afghans risk deep impoverishment in the coming months.

Al Jazeera cited unnamed experts warning that "the country is hurtling towards economic catastrophe."

Days earlier, former head of Afghanistan's central bank Ajmal Ahmady said the nation's GDP could decline up to 20% in the coming months if sanctions aren't lifted.

On Monday in testimony before House Foreign Affairs Committee members, interventionist Blinken recited his usual litany of bald-faced Big Lies.

He falsely said that before withdrawal of US combat troops from the country, the Biden regime "significantly speed(ed) up the processing of the Special Immigrant Visas (SIVs) for Afghans who had worked for us and by our side these past 20 years (sic)."

Many thousands of Afghans promised them were abandoned when no longer serving US imperial interests — along with hundreds of Americans and their families.

Blinken lied saying despite the Pentagon's withdrawal, he increased numbers of US personnel to expedite processing of SIV applications.

He lied claiming that the Biden regime went all out to aid Americans and Afghans wanting to leave the country.

He praised what demanded condemnation.

He lied saying the Biden regime is "in constant contact with American citizens still in Afghanistan who have told us that they wish to leave."

Making sweeping demands of the new Taliban-led government, he ignored longstanding US contempt for the rights and welfare of long-suffering Afghans.

He lied saying that the Biden regime is committed to "support(ing) humanitarian aid to the Afghan people (sic)" — while going all-out to block it.

He dubiously claimed that the US will provide "nearly $64 million" in humanitarian aid — pennies — "to meet critical health and nutrition needs; address the protection concerns of women, children, and minorities; to help more children – including girls – go back to school (sic)."

It's unclear if any will be forthcoming given US sanctions war on the country and its people with intent to starve and otherwise immiserate them more than already.

Most all so-called US aid focuses on advancing its imperial aims, most of it military related.

All things humanitarian are of no concern to the US ruling class — not at home or abroad anywhere.

Claims otherwise are bald-faced Big Lies.

Judge hegemon USA by its domestic and foreign policies.

Ignore rhetorical claims by its officials.

In Afghanistan and other countries free from US control, its policy is all about transforming them into subservient vassal states — by whatever it takes to achieve its objectives, forever wars by hot and/or other means its favored tactics.

A state of permanent US war on Afghanistan continues with no end of it in prospect as long as its government falls short of subordinating the rights of the nation and people to Washington's interests.

That's the reality Blinken failed to explain.

The same goes for Biden regime press agent media, suppressing what's vital to explain — along with supporting endless US war on humanity at home and abroad.
