Nord Stream 2 Gas Pipeline Nearly Completed

Begun in May 2018, US sanctions delayed its scheduled December 2019 completion.

It's now nearing its end point with the final piece of piping welded together.

According to Russia's Gazprom-owned Nord Stream 2 AG:

"As the next step, the section of the pipe coming from the German shore will be connected to the section coming from the Danish waters in a so-called above water tie-in."

Pre-commissioning will follow. The goal is for gas to flow from Russia to Germany before yearend.

According to Germany's DW news, a "major step" was completed on Monday.

Gas may begin to flow "in October."

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania premier Manuela Pomerania said "(s)ticking by this project has been the right decision by our state government," adding:

"This natural gas pipeline is needed for Germany's energy transition" from coal and nuclear power.

According to Nord Stream 2 AG, the pipeline when operational will  deliver enough gas for 26 million households, doubling the supply of Russian gas from Siberian fields beneath the Baltic Sea to Germany.

It'll "contribute to meeting longterm needs of the European energy market for gas imports, improving supply security and reliability, and providing gas under sensible economic conditions," Nord Stream 2 AG explained.

On Monday, Sergey Lavrov said the pipeline "will be completed in a few days and will begin working," adding:

US efforts to undermine the project failed. "(E)veryone knows that the

Americans realize," it'll be completed and begin supplying gas to Germany.

Yet the Biden regime continues "a full-frontal attack."

Last month, a White House statement falsely said that Nord Stream 2 weakens Ukraine, (NATO's) Eastern flank and EU countries (sic)."

It threatens "the national security, foreign policy, and economy of the US (sic)."

It does none of the above. It takes business away from much higher-priced US LNG.

In late August, the Biden regime illegally sanctioned a Russian vessel and two Russian nationals involved in the project.

At the same time, Biden's impersonator signed "an Executive Order…to impose sanctions (on) designated persons (at the discretion of the White House…pursuant to the Protecting Europe's Energy Security Act of 2019 (PEESA) (sic)," adding:

"(W)e continue to work with Germany and other allies and partners to reduce the risks posed by the pipeline to Ukraine and frontline NATO and EU countries (sic), and to push back against harmful Russian activities (sic), including in the energy sphere (sic)."

Nord Stream 2's completion and flow of low-cost Russian gas through it is a fait accompli.

Everything US hardliners threw at the project to undermine it failed — accomplishing nothing more than further mud on its face.

Days earlier, Gazprom said it expects its 2021 output to increase by 55 billion cubic meters to over 510 billion cubic meters, including 183 cubic meters to European markets.

Last year, Gazprom supplied 34% of Europe's imported gas, according to its CEO Aleksey Miller.

Russia and Iran have the world's largest natural gas reserves, estimated at 24.3% and 17.3% respectively, according to the Statistical Review of World Energy.

According to Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, potential Russian offshore Arctic zone gas reserves may be "around 100 trillion  cubic meters," adding:

If fully developed, Russian Arctic reserves could last "hundreds of years."
