US/UK Crucifixion of Julian Assange

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Assange is the first journalist to be charged by the US under the long ago outdated/WW I relic Espionage Act.

The ACLU earlier said the following:

"For the first time" in US history, its ruling regime "brought criminal charges against a publisher for the publication of truthful information…a direct assault on the First Amendment."

"It establishes a dangerous precedent that can be used to target all news organizations" and journalists for publishing what US regimes want kept secret.

Illegally arrested and imprisoned by Britain in cahoots with the US, Assange is a political prisoner of conscience for the crime of truth-telling journalism as it should be.

Ruling US/UK regimes want him eliminated by brutalizing medical neglect slow torture in isolation behind bars.

Yet Amnesty International refused to declare him a prisoner of conscience, instead earlier saying:

It's "monitoring (his) case…closely but not actively working on" it.

AI "does not consider Julian Assange to be a prisoner of conscience."

On August 10, the organization said it's "time for (the Biden regime) to…end this farcical prosecution."

If extradited to the US, he'll face continued violation of his international law-affirmed rights "that could amount to torture or other ill-treatment, including (from) prolonged solitary confinement."

Aided by Chelsea Manning a decade ago, Assange exposed Bush/Cheney regime aggression by publishing detailed truth-telling information on its war OF terror, not on it, through its rules of engagement collateral murder.

He also published hard truths from the Afghan War Diaries, Iraq War Logs, Cablegate, and the Guantanamo Files.

In January, UK District Court Judge Vanessa Baraitser rejected the Trump regime's request to extradite Assange to the US, saying:

"I have decided that extradition would be oppressive and I order his discharge."

Falsely claiming that he'd receive a "fair trial" if extradited to the US, Baraitser also said if it's approved, "special administrative measures" while incarcerated in the US would negatively affect his mental health and pose a "real risk of suicide."

At the same time, she failed to explain how he was brutally dragged from Ecuador's London embassy in April 2019, then callously abused in the city's Belmarsh prison to the present time.

UN Special Rapporteur on Torture Professor Nils Melzer condemned his "persecution" by the UK in cahoots with the US.

Given his deteriorated state, Melzer said "it would be oppressive to extradite him to the US."

Yet it may happen anyway.

Instead of ending Assange's long ordeal, London's High court — in cahoots with the Biden regime — let its hardliners challenge his psychiatric evaluation. See below.

According to Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London's Emeritus Professor of Neuropsychiatry Michael Kopelman MD, Assange would be at high risk of suicide if extradited to the US because of his clinical depression and Asperger's syndrome.

Kopelman observed his "loss of sleep, loss of weight, a sense of pre-occupation and helplessness as a result of threats to his life, the concealment of a razor blade as a means to self-harm and obsessive ruminations on ways of killing himself," stressing:

"I am as certain as a psychiatrist ever can be that, in the event of imminent extradition, Mr. Assange would indeed find a way to commit suicide."

Section 91 of Britain's  2003 Extradition Act prohibits extradition if "the physical or mental condition of the person is such that it would be unjust or oppressive to extradite him."

Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights says:

"No one shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."

Kopelman believes Assange's brutalizing isolation and other mistreatment in the US will exceed the worst of what he's experienced in Britain.

Defying reality, London's High Court ruled that his psychiatric evaluation "misled" district court judge Baraiter (sic).

Biden regime lawyers may argue for dismissal of Kopelman's evaluation on dubious grounds.

Arguing for the US, attorney Clair Dobbin claimed that Kopelman "concealed" Assange's relationship with Stella Moris (sic), adding:

He "has not made the sort of serious attempt on his life or have the history of serious self-harm seen in other cases (sic)."

Referring to his relationship with Moris, Assange's attorney Edward Fitzgerald said it's "unarguable that there is a principle that any lapse, however understandable…renders the whole of an expert's evidence inadmissible."

"You have to take it in context and look at the overarching duty" of impartiality.

Following the High Court's miscarriage of justice by its unacceptable ruling, Moris said the following:

"What has not been discussed today is why I feared for my safety and the safety of our children and Julian's life."

"The constant threats and intimidation that we have endured for years, which has been terrorizing us and has been terrorizing Julian for over ten years."

"Threats against me, threats against our children, death threats against Julian's eldest son Daniel."

"Threats on Julian's life, threats of a 175-year prison sentence."

"And the actual ongoing imprisonment of a journalist for doing his job."

"These are sustained threats to his life for the past ten years. These are not just items of law."

"This is our lives. We have the right to exist."

"We have the right to live, and we have a right for this nightmare to come to an end once and for all."

Assange's brutalizing imprisonment continues.

The Biden regime's appeal will be heard by London's High Court on October 27 and 28.

If successful, he faces virtual life imprisonment in emotionally crushing solitary confinement for truth-telling journalism as it should be.

That's what may await him — continued slow-motion brutalizing torture until death behind bars ends his long ordeal.
