Fake News About Iran in International Waters

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Iran is targeted for regime change by US/Western/Israeli dark forces.

What's gone on for decades is unrelated to threats posed by its ruling authorities.

There are none against other nations.

Iran prioritizes peace, stability, and cooperative relations with the world community of nations.

False accusations against the country are fabricated because of its sovereign independence — its freedom from US/Western/Israeli control.

The West and Israel need enemies to advance their hegemonic aims.

None exist so they're invented.

Time and again, Iran has been falsely accused of all sorts of things it had nothing to do with, no evidence suggesting otherwise.

Yet days earlier, the Biden regime in cahoots with its imperial Israeli and UK partners falsely accused Iran of attacking the Liberian-flagged Japanese-owned Mercer Street tanker managed by Israeli-owned Zodiac Maritime.

The above regimes cited no evidence because there's none to cite — so they invented what doesn't exist.

More followed on Tuesday by Britain's Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO).

Falsely linking Iran to a "potential hijacking" in waters near the UAE, it said the following:

"An incident is currently underway" it called an "attack, hijacking or kidnapping."

According to the Boris Johnson regime, the Panama-flagged, Emirati free zone-based Glory International-owned, Asphalt Princess tanker was allegedly seized by armed attackers — falsely linking them to Iran despite no evidence suggesting it.

According to AP News on Tuesday:

"(S)ix oil tankers announced around the same time via their Automatic Identification System trackers that they were 'not under command,' MarineTraffic.com reported."

"That typically means a vessel has lost power and can no longer steer."

"(I)f they are in the same vicinity and in the same place, (that) very rarely happens," said maritime shipping and freight data firm's Ranjith Raja.

"Not all the vessels would lose their engines or their capability to steer at the same time."

According to Reuters' fake news:

"Iranian-backed forces are believed to have seized an oil tanker in the Gulf off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (sic), three (unnamed) maritime security sources said (sic), after Britain's maritime trade agency reported a 'potential hijack' in the area on Tuesday (sic)."

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh denounced the above accusations.

Warning against what appears to be an attempt to blame Iran unjustifiably by the West and Israel,  he added:

Tehran is prepared "to cooperate with regional countries to boost maritime security and monitoring of naval transit routes," Iranian Tasnim News reported.

Spokesman for Iran's military General Abolfazl Shekarchi slammed what he called anti-Iran "psychological warfare (to set) the stage for new bouts of adventurism," adding:

"The powerful naval forces of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Army are ready to provide any assistance and dispatch relief units if necessary and at the request of foreign vessels."

The Times of London cited UK sources saying they're (unjustifiably) "working on the assumption Iranian military or proxies boarded" the Asphalt Princess.

According to US RadioFreeEurope/RadioLiberty propaganda on Tuesday, the US, UK and Israel blame Iran for incidents in regional waters, adding:

Unnamed "maritime security sources" claimed "Iranian-backed forces…seized…the Asphalt Princess" — no evidence cited suggesting it.

Iran's IRGC called the phony claim an attempt "to prepare…international community…public opinion for hostile action" against the Islamic Republic.

On Wednesday, Press TV reported a UKMTO tweet, saying:

"Boarders have left the (Asphalt Princess). Vessel is safe. Incident complete" — with no further elaboration.

On Tuesday by letter to the UN Security Council, Romania and Liberia, in cahoots with Britain, called it "highly likely" that Iran attacked The Mercer Street tanker last week.

"Tehran denied any involvement in the incident and rejected the accusations as 'baseless,' " Press TV reported, adding:

"Iran's Foreign Ministry earlier summoned Britain's charge d'affaires and Romania's ambassador in protest the false accusations."

Iran's UK embassy said there's "no information available about any new incidents involving commercial vessels."

All of the above are more tempest in a teapot rubbish to falsely blame Iran for invented reasons.

No legitimate ones exist.
