Biden Regime's Unwavering Support for Israeli Atrocities Against Palestinians

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman)

Weeks after usurping power by brazen election fraud, the Biden regime's White House "affirmed (its) steadfast commitment to Israel's security and conveyed (its) intent to strengthen all aspects of the US-Israel partnership."

Claiming the US intends to advance the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians ignored decades of hypocrisy by ruling regimes of both countries.

No peace process exists. None ever did — just the illusion to paper over the longstanding charade.

Israel is an apartheid police state, a fantasy democracy like the US and other Western countries — permanent war and state terror their official agenda.

So is institutionalized racism.

Washington is no honest broker — never was, isn't now under hardline undemocratic Dems.

The US and Israel don't negotiate. They demand.

Extrajudicially governed by their own rules alone, ruling regimes of both countries reject international laws and norms.

On all things related to Palestinians, Israel pressures, bullies, intimidates, and bludgeons them time and again.

That's what's been going on intensively since mid-April over the issue of ethnic cleansing Palestinian families from their East Jerusalem/Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

Longstanding Israeli policy calls for maximum Jews and minimum Arabs throughout all valued parts of historic Palestine.

Forced dispossession of Palestinians from their homes and theft of their land has gone on since the 1947-48 Nakba.

At the time, Israeli aggression dispossessed about 800,000 Palestinian men, women, children, infants, the elderly and infirm.

Countless others were massacred in cold blood.

Israeli rampaging destroyed 531 Palestinian villages, 11 urban neighborhoods in Tel-Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, and other cities and towns.

They stole 78% of their historic homeland.

Their rest was taken during Israel's preemptive six-day June 1967 war.

Instead of upholding the rule of law, the US-dominated West has consistently supported the worst of Israeli high crimes while pretending otherwise.

Palestinians are treated dismissively with disdain.

Israeli apartheid, occupation and colonization of historic Palestine is supported by the West, including besieged Gaza since Hamas' January 2006 legislative triumph.

On Sunday in response to weeks of Israeli violence against Palestinians in East Jerusalem, a statement by the Biden regime's National Security Council said the following:

National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke with his Israeli counterpart Meir Ben-Shabbat.

So-called White House concern expressed about weeks of violence in East Jerusalem concealed no change in one-sided US support for all things Israel and dismissiveness toward fundamental Palestinian rights.

Saying Sullivan "press(ed) for steps to ensure calm, deescalate tensions, and denounce violence" was head-fake deception.

So was saying the Biden regime has "serious concerns about the potential evictions of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood."

Since Harry Truman was the first world leader to recognize the new Israeli state — minutes after midnight on May 15, 1948 — ignoring strong opposition to the move by General George Marshall/then-Secretary of State — one-sided US support for all things Israel has been official White House and congressional policy.

Weeks ahead of the move in March 1948,  Truman met secretly with future Israeli president Chaim Weizmann.

The late Israel Shahak said Jewish groups bribed Truman with $2 million for his 1948 presidential campaign.

Jack Kennedy later told Gore Vidal:

"That's why our recognition was rushed through so fast."

In November 1948, Truman said:

"I have to answer to hundreds of thousands who are anxious for the success of Zionism."

"I do not have hundreds of thousands of Arabs among my constituents."

The above view pervades both right wings of the US war party on all things Israel and Palestinians — from the Jewish state's creation to the present day.

Official US policy leaves unstated that its ruling regimes don't give a hoot about Palestinian rights according to the rule of law — never did, surely not now.

Israeli police state violence continued intensively on Sunday.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent, hundreds were injured, around 80 hospitalized for treatment of injuries sustained, many seriously.

Senior Islamic Jihad West Bank commander Khadr Adnan said the following:

"The desecration of Al-Aqsa and the wounding of hundreds of those who defend it is a crime that has its price, and we are all confident in the resistance of our people."

Other Palestinian officials condemning the "storming of Al Aqsa," vowing to consider "all options" in response.

Haaretz condemned Israeli security forces for violence committed against defenseless Palestinians.

The day after weekend violence on Monday — ahead of May 10 Jerusalem Day events — the Netanyahu regime barred Jews from entering what Israel calls the Temple Mount.

It's known by Palestinians as the Haram esh-Sharif (the Noble Sanctuary/Al-Aqsa compound that includes the Al-Aqsa Mosque).

The UN Security Council reportedly will hold a closed-door session to discuss weeks of East Jerusalem violence.

US veto power assures no meaningful action to condemn the Netanyahu regime for what's gone on and continues.

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights condemned what it called "a conspiracy of silence…by the international community that (lets) Israel (violate) international human rights law and international humanitarian law (with impunity), including efforts to create a Jewish majority in occupied East Jerusalem."

A Final Comment

Days earlier, a joint statement by the Palestinian Human Rights Organizations Council — comprised of 11 human rights groups — condemned subjecting of Palestinians "to an institutionalized regime of racial domination and oppression, amounting to the crime of apartheid."

Weeks of Israeli violence against Palestinians in East Jerusalem is the latest example of Jewish state crimes of war, against humanity, and other atrocities that have gone on in Occupied Palestine for generations.

There's no end of it in prospect because the world community fails to hold Israel accountable for the highest of high crimes it continues to commit against millions of long-suffering Palestinians — unaccountably.
