Russia Slams Hostile US Interventionism

by Stephen Lendman (stephenlendman.org - Home - Stephen Lendman

Longstanding US imperial policies that date from the 19th century are all about meddling in the internal affairs of other nations with intent to control them — including their resources and populations.

Pro-Navalny protests last weekend in Russian cities were orchestrated by US dark forces.

The CIA, State Department, and US embassy in Moscow — infested with Langley operatives — were directly involved in what happened — with more of the same virtually certain ahead.

Russia slammed the US for aiding and abetting protests by publishing information about their locations on its embassy website.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova explained the following:

"Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov held a conversation with US Ambassador John Sullivan and expressed his strong objection to posts by the US embassy in Russia supporting illegal rallies in some Russian cities, which it spread online," adding:

He was told that "the Russian side considers this material and the statement by the US Department of State as direct interference in the domestic affairs of our country."

Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov slammed US actions, calling them "outright interference in our domestic affairs."

Unacceptable US actions were "a violation of the law."

Facebook, Twitter and other US social media were involved in what happened, their platforms used for lawbreaking.

Russia's Foreign Ministry intends determining to what extent they incited violence in the nation's cities — perhaps with appropriate actions against them for meddling in Russia's internal affairs.

Russian Senator who heads the Federation Council's commission on preventing interference in the country's internal affairs Andrey Klimov accused foreign intelligence operatives and social media of involvement in orchestrating and promoting last weekend's street protests, saying:

"The Senatorial Commission has reason to believe that all these activities are clearly traced to the actions of foreign states, and it is all happening with the assistance of foreign specialists," adding:

"Plans were implemented that were made far outside the borders of Russia."

"An agenda is being imposed on us that is alien to the fundamental interests of the Russian people."

Klimov has "reliable data" to verify his accusations. By "foreign states" he means the US and perhaps Britain.

Ruling regimes of both nations are militantly hostile toward Russia.

Klimov also expressed outrage over young children appearing in what went on, likely lured to come out by misleading information.

He supports legislation to impose criminal penalties on elements behind involving minors in violent street protests to create the false appearance of mass outrage.

Navalny has scant support in Russia. Large numbers turning out last weekend no doubt included many individuals likely lured to the street on false pretenses.

Unacceptable State Department meddling in Russia's internal affairs expressed phony support for "peaceful assembly and freedom of expression (sic)" that are being systematically destroyed in the US.

Ignoring likely US orchestrated violence — perhaps by hooligans it recruited much like what happened on Capitol Hill in early January — the State Department falsely accused Russian police of "preemptively arresting" individuals involved in what happened.

It repeated the Big Lie claim about Navalny's illness last summer being from "use of a chemical weapon (sic)."

Ignoring horrendous US human rights abuses at home and worldwide, the State Department defied reality with its concluding remark, saying:

"The United States will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our allies and partners in defense of human rights – whether in Russia or wherever they come under threat (sic)."

No nation in world history caused more harm to more people worldwide over a longer duration that the US.

Countless tens of millions paid the ultimate price for its imperial rage and contempt for rule of law principles.

No nation has less right to criticize others than hegemon USA — an unparalleled menace to freedom-loving people everywhere.
