Russia Bashing Once Again Rears its Ugly Head

Time and again, Russia and other nations free from US imperial control are unjustifiably bashed for all sorts of contrived and disorted reasons.

As usual among Big Media players, the self-styled newspaper of record NYT took the lead once again in shamefully slamming Russia for arresting longtime CIA/NED asset/convicted felon Alexey Navalny on arrival in Moscow on Sunday.

What's going on is discussed in a same day article on my website (stephenlendman.org), so I won't go into detail on what's explained.

What's key is that Navalny's arrest fully complied with Russian law — its action polar opposite how the US, West and Israel operate extrajudicially in pursuing their diabolical agendas.

Navalny unlawfully breached his probation terms and faces serious corruption charges, hard evidence likely to convict him at trial.

All of the above isn't good enough for the Times, inventing another unjustifiable reason for Russia bashing to its disgrace.

A Times piece overflowed with its customary litany of bald-faced Big Lies, saying:

Navalny "returned (to Moscow) five months after a near-fatal nerve-agent attack (sic)."

"(H)e and Western officials say was an assassination attempt by the Russian state (sic)."

His illness had nothing to do with a novichok "nerve agent" or any other toxin — nothing to do with a phony accusation of Kremlin involvement.

His illness was from a metabolic disorder likely related to one or more other health issues affecting him.

No evidence whatever suggests Russian responsibility for what happened last August.

Claims otherwise were and remain bald-faced Big Lies.

The Times: Navalny's arrest reflects "Russia's rising domestic discontent and the Kremlin's jitters over it (sic)."

A recent All-Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) poll showed that Putin remains the country's most popular politician.

A poll conducted from September 25 - 30, 2020 had his approval rating at 69%. At yearend 2020, it was slightly lower at 65%.

According to Gallup, only Jack Kennedy's "average approval rating" was higher at 70%.

Dwight Eisenhower's was 65%, compared to GHW Bush's 60.9%, Ronald Reagan's 52.8%, Bill Clinton's 55.1%, GW Bush's 49.4%, Obama's 47.9%, and Trump's 41%. 

The Times quoted a Navalny associate's Big Lie, falsely claiming:

He's "been kidnapped (on arrival in Moscow - sic)."He is in danger (sic)."

"He is in the hands of people who have already tried to kill him (sic)."

Incoming Biden/Harris regime national security advisor Jake Sullivan's Big Lie was also quoted, falsely claiming:

"The Kremlin's attacks on Mr. Navalny are not just a violation of human rights (sic), but an affront to the Russian people who want their voices heard (sic)."

Russophobe Pompeo chimed in with his own Russia bashing remark, saying:

"Navalny is not the problem (sic). We demand his immediate and unconditional release."

Separately on the State Department website, he falsely claimed the move was "to silence Navalny and other opposition figures and independent voices (sic)," adding:

"We urge the Russian government to provide a level playing field for all political parties and candidates seeking to compete in the electoral process (sic)."

Russia's free and open society is polar opposite growing dystopian tyranny in the US and other Western states — because of diabolical figures like Pompeo and propaganda major media instead of the real thing.

The Times repeated its own Big Lie claim about Putin's "ebb(ing) popularity" — ignoring his yearend 65% approval rating.

A same day Times editorial on Navalny headlined "The Extraordinary Courage of Aleksei Navalny (sic)" was typical broadsheet mass deception about a convicted felon/fifth column figure operating in cahoots with his CIA handlers against his own country.

Saying he's been in Germany since August "because President Vladimir Putin's political goons had poisoned him, and had failed to kill him" is more clear evidence of utter rubbish filling Times editions — in lieu of "all the news that's fit to print" long ago banned on its pages.

Claiming he was arrested on arrival in Moscow "on a trumped-up charge" failed to sweep his criminality under the rug.

Saying that taking him into custody shows "the corruption of Russia's rulers" failed to reinvent how Russia under Putin respects the rule of law —polar opposite how the US, West and Israel operate extrajudicially.

Claiming his earlier conviction on indisputable embezzlement charges was "phony" fell flat.

Saying he's a "national hero" ignored his low approval rating in Russia — earlier at 3%.

A recent poll on who Russians would support for president if elections were held the next day found Navalny's support at 2%.

Putin overwhelmingly outdistances other potential challenger's to Russia's highest office in popularity.

Yet Times editors absurdly said the following:

"The option Mr. Putin is least likely to consider would be to confront Mr. Navalny openly and fairly at the ballot box…"

He likely faces more time behind bars for embezzlement and corruption.

If free and able to run for president, he wouldn't dare try, knowing how resoundingly and embarrassingly he'd be trounced.
